Soliciting your Prayers
This week... by your prayers... the Supreme Court of the United States could agree to look into Utah's elections.
This week a case is being submitted to the United States Supreme Court by Phil Lyman, a candidate you may never have heard of… or whom you may have thought dropped out of the 2024 race for governor… or whom perhaps you thought got legitimately bumped out of the race… or perhaps whom you didn’t know was running as a write-in. The case is asking if a recent Utah Court decision discounted an established Supreme Court ruling on the very same issue.
Justice Scalia ruled (in New-York-Board-of-Election vs Lopez-Torrey) that political parties can establish candidate selection processes. The Utah media has repeatedly reported that this very same issue has been evaluated for constitutionality by the Utah Supreme Court. Mr. Lyman thinks that the Utah court made its decision on a different basis, which leaves an opening for his appeal.
As Lt. Governor, Spencer Cox explained that according to the Republican party processes a candidate automatically goes onto the general election ticket if they get more than 60% of the vote at the Republican state convention. This is apparently the case… unless the candidate is running against Spencer Cox, as in the election concluded last week, because Cox’s running mate, the Lt. Governor, calls the shots on the election, threw Phil off the ticket and forced him to run as a write-in candidate… and her word is final… barring legal appeals.
Please make urgent prayers this week that the Supreme Court will vote to hear this important case such that our first amendment right to combine with others to make rules for candidate selections may not be infringed by government. Feel free to join with me in fasting and prayer tomorrow as the Supreme Court begins its’ work-week.

May you have beautiful remembrances about the veterans in your lives and their many sacrifices for this country.
